Shahpour Bakhtiar
After the Shah's departure from Iran in January 1979, Bakhtiar proved unable to function effectively.
Shahpour Bakhtiar was the last prime minister appointed by the Shah of Iran, serving as a compromise with the opposition. He was a supporter of Mohammed Mossadegh and a member of the National Front.1
After the Shah's departure from Iran in January 1979, Bakhtiar proved unable to function effectively. Following Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini's arrival in Iran on February 1, 1979, Bakhtiar went into hiding ten days later and eventually found exile in Paris, France. He was assassinated in Paris in 1991.1
