William Cole was a Los Angeles-based attorney. He was hired to investigate possible links between the triple slayings of Fred Alvarez, Ralph Boger, and Patricia Castro and the Cabazon Indian Reservation. Cole stated that his office was coordinating efforts with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department in investigating the murders and expected officials to turn over confiscated papers from the Alvarez home to his office.1
