Colonel Yoel Ben-Porat, known as Buffy, was the unit commander of Unit 8200, an Israeli Signals Intelligence (Sigint) unit. He later became a brigadier general and was appointed official spokesman of the Israeli Defense Forces.1
Buffy was involved in the cover-up of the Lockheed bribe scandal involving Shimon Peres, after Ari Ben-Menashe intercepted a telegram detailing the bribe. He ordered the original telegram, translation, and log to be erased and transferred the young woman working with Ari Ben-Menashe to another unit.1
