Robert Monroe
American businessman who founded The Monroe Institute, known for Hemi-Sync audio technology and out-of-body experience research used by Stargate remote viewers.
Robert Monroe was an American businessman and explorer of human consciousness. He is known for his extensive personal experiences with out-of-body experiences (OBEs) and for founding The Monroe Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to the exploration of human consciousness through various techniques, including Hemi-Sync audio technology. While not directly involved in the Stargate Project, his work and institute became a post-military career path for figures like Skip Atwater, who became president of the Institute.1
An INSCOM information paper of January 5, 1984, gave his particulars: "Born on 30 Oct 1915, in Wabash, Indiana, Robert A. Monroe received a BA degree from Ohio State University in 1937," was "the author of the book Journeys Out of the Body, published in 1971," and "has a DoD SECRET security clearance based on a NAC completed on 18 January 1980." The Army's association with his institute dated from 1978, and by 1984 its Hemi-Sync process was in use in the Center Lane unit's training and collection missions.2
