James V. Desarno, Jr. was an Assistant Special Agent in Charge from the D.C. Metropolitan Office of the FBI. He was present at Paul Wilcher's apartment after Wilcher's death. Desarno, along with Craig Olson, was one of two FBI agents present at the scene. Despite his presence, Desarno strongly denied that the FBI was interested in or involved in the case, repeatedly stating, "We are not interested in this case."1
