Middle East correspondent for Newsday who received early details of the Iran-Contra story from Ari Ben-Menashe.
Timothy Phelps was the Middle East correspondent for Newsday, based in Cairo. He visited Ari Ben-Menashe several times in Jerusalem, where Ben-Menashe provided him with details about the North story, which later became known as the Iran-Contra Affair. However, Newsday did not print the story.1
