Joseph Douce

Joseph Doucé, a pastor defrocked by the Protestant churches and a defender of homosexual rights, lived in Paris, where he founded the Centre du Christ Libérateur (CCL) and had just opened a bookshop, Autres cultures. In 1990 he was under close surveillance by a team of the Paris Renseignements Généraux (RG), the "Groupe des enquêtes réservées" led by Inspector Jean-Marc Dufourg, on the never-proven ground that he took part in a pedophile network; a month before his abduction Dufourg had pounded on his door to frighten him. On the evening of July 19, 1990, two men presenting themselves as police officers took him from his home. Three months later a mushroom gatherer found his body, unrecognizable, in the forest of Rambouillet; the autopsy concluded that he had been strangled a few hours after his disappearance. Dufourg, considered the principal suspect by the investigating judges, was dismissed from the police in 1991. The minister of the interior, Pierre Joxe, spoke of "a frankly disgusting climate." The murder has never been solved.²

The CCL and the X-Dossier

The writer S. Dovey described the CCL as a support group for pedophiles in the 1980s and 1990s whose counseling sessions served for the exchange of child pornography, and wrote that the X-Dossier, compiled under Judge Jean-Marc Connerotte and Prosecutor Michel Bourlet, linked the CCL to CRIES, whose members used the premises of UNICEF for filming, and to other networks investigated in Belgium, though no direct tie to Marc Dutroux was established.¹
