Abul Abbas was a Palestinian terrorist. He was involved in the 1985 Achille Lauro attack, which was an Israeli "black" propaganda operation designed to show the world the perceived brutality of Palestinians.1

Abbas received orders from Mohammed Radi Abdullah, who was relaying instructions from Rafi. He was reportedly receiving millions from Israeli intelligence officers posing as Sicilian dons. Abbas gathered a team to attack the cruise ship, with instructions to make the attack severe to highlight Palestinian demands.1
