• Lee Pennington Retired FBI inspector kept on a monthly retainer by the CIA's Security Research Staff, who watched James McCord's wife burn papers days after the Watergate arrests, a fact the agency withheld from investigators until 1974.
• Paul Gaynor Chief of the CIA Security Research Staff, who paid Lee Pennington 250 dollars a month and received James McCord's unsigned letters in the winter of 1972, until the staff's abolition in August 1973.
