Nobody's Girl

Nobody's Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice is the memoir of Virginia Giuffre, written with the journalist Amy Wallace and published by Alfred A. Knopf, an imprint of Penguin Random House, on October 21, 2025, six months after Giuffre's death by suicide in Western Australia on April 25, 2025. Giuffre had asked that it be published regardless of her circumstances. The book recounts her recruitment by Ghislaine Maxwell at Mar-a-Lago, the years in which she said Jeffrey Epstein and Maxwell trafficked her, and her litigation against Epstein, Maxwell, and Prince Andrew, later Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.¹²

The book reproduces the March 2001 photograph of Andrew with his arm around the seventeen-year-old Giuffre, Maxwell standing behind them, and identifies Epstein as the person who took it. Andrew has denied her allegations; he settled her 2021 civil suit in February 2022 without admitting liability.¹³

Publication and Andrew

The book's release followed Andrew's announcement on October 17, 2025 that he would stop using the title Duke of York. On October 30, 2025, nine days after publication, Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles III had "initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew," effected by a Royal Warrant of that date and Letters Patent of November 3, 2025.³

Reception

The memoir reached the top of bestseller lists. At the British Book Awards, presented at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House hotel in London on May 11, 2026, it received the Overall Book of the Year award, and Giuffre shared the Freedom to Publish Award with the technology whistleblower Sarah Wynn-Williams, author of Careless People, a memoir of her years at Facebook.²

Estate

Giuffre died without a valid will, and revenue from the book forms part of an estate contested in the Supreme Court of Western Australia among two of her sons, her former carer, her former lawyer, and her estranged husband. In November 2025 the court appointed a Western Australian lawyer, Ian Torrington Blatchford, as interim administrator; the appointment also allowed a defamation claim against the estate by Rina Oh to proceed.⁴⁵
