[Kibbutz Mishmar Hasharon](/places/kibbutz-mishmar-hasharon/) is a kibbutz in [Israel](/places/israel/). In 1969, [Ari Ben-Menashe](/people/ari-ben-menashe/) joined this kibbutz after he could not be drafted into the [Israeli](/places/israel/) army due to his [Iranian](/places/iran/) passport. While there, he studied Hebrew and performed volunteer work.[^1]

It was at [Kibbutz Mishmar Hasharon](/places/kibbutz-mishmar-hasharon/) that [Ari Ben-Menashe](/people/ari-ben-menashe/) met [Michael Dennis Rohan](/people/michael-dennis-rohan/), an [Australian](/places/australia/) member of the Church of God, and an [American](/places/united-states/) Baptist named Arthur. [Rohan](/people/michael-dennis-rohan/) later carried out an arson attack on the [El Aqsa Mosque](/places/el-aqsa-mosque/), an event that [Ari Ben-Menashe](/people/ari-ben-menashe/) helped to expose.[^1]
