### The Stokowski Affair

The American known as Dr Stanley Stokowski, a director of the ethanol plant of [Chemical Technology Limited](/organizations/chemical-technology-limited/) at Clandeboye, lived at Hadlow until mid-March 1984, when he left the country on a stolen passport.[^1] In the weeks that followed, police searched properties at Clandeboye and Hadlow.[^2] The man was the fugitive [R.C. Horsch](/people/rc-horsch/).
