[William Callaway](/people/william-callaway/) was a Cabazon member. He, along with [Joseph R. (Mike) Benitez](/people/joseph-r-mike-benitez/), discovered the bodies of [Fred Alvarez](/people/fred-alvarez/), [Ralph Boger](/people/ralph-boger/), and [Patricia Castro](/people/patricia-castro/) on July 1, 1981. Callaway, Benitez, and Alvarez were scheduled to meet with attorney [Steve Rios](/people/steve-rios/) on July 1, 1981, to initiate an investigation of [Cabazon](/places/cabazon-indian-reservation/) tribal affairs.[^1]
