#Ted Koppel is an American broadcast journalist, best known as the anchor and managing editor of *Nightline* from 1980 to 2005. On November 28, 1995, Koppel hosted a *Nightline* exposé that made the [Star Gate program](/programs/stargate-project/) public[^1].

During the broadcast, Koppel interviewed [Dale Graff](/people/dale-graff/) of the [DIA](/organizations/defense-intelligence-agency/) and [Robert Gates](/people/robert-gates/) of the [CIA](/organizations/central-intelligence-agency/). Graff defended the integrity of the programs, while Gates downplayed their significance.
