[Shulamit Ingerman](/people/shulamit-ingerman/) was a civilian cryptographer and head of the [Iranian](/places/iran/) desk in [Unit 8200](/organizations/unit-8200/), an [Israeli](/places/israel/) Signals Intelligence (Sigint) unit. She was recognized as one of [Israel's](/places/israel/) best cryptographers, having won the highest award for contributions to [Israel's](/places/israel/) security twice.[^1]

[Ingerman](/people/shulamit-ingerman/) introduced [Ari Ben-Menashe](/people/ari-ben-menashe/) to the [Iranian](/places/iran/) team of six within [Unit 8200](/organizations/unit-8200/). She was called by [Ari Ben-Menashe](/people/ari-ben-menashe/) when he successfully broke the [Iranian](/places/iran/) diplomatic code. She later intervened to obtain a pardon for [Ari Ben-Menashe](/people/ari-ben-menashe/) after he was court-martialed for insubordination by [Lt. Col. Sasson Yishaek](/people/sasson-yishaek/).[^1]
