Robert Whitaker
Robert Whitaker was a member of the original 1969 PROMIS design team who appears to have been an executive officer within the DC Department of Corrections in 1969-1970; further identification is complicated by the commonality of the name.
Robert Whitaker was a member of the original 1969 team assembled to design the Prosecutor's Management Information System, working under co-directors Joan E. Jacoby and Charles R. Work with project manager Bill Hamilton at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. Contemporary government records indicate that a Robert Whitaker served as Executive Officer of the DC Department of Corrections in 1969 and Executive Assistant to the Director of Corrections in 1970, and represented the Metropolitan Police Department's interests in on-line records management systems -- a role consistent with participation on the PROMIS design team. Definitive identification of this individual in later records is complicated by the commonality of the name.1
