[Robert Corson](/people/robert-corson/) was a business associate of [Ian Stuart Spiro](/people/ian-stuart-spiro/) and was indicted in a savings and loan scam. He was found dead in an El Paso, Texas, motel room the week of the Spiro family's death. Officials stated he died of a heart attack. Corson was reportedly a [CIA](/organizations/central-intelligence-agency/) operative.[^1]

Corson was reported to have carried money to South America in a deal to deliver covert weapons. He was also alleged to have associated with California investor [Wayne Reeder](/people/wayne-reeder/), who was seen at a [Wackenhut Corporation](/organizations/wackenhut-corporation/)/[Contra](/organizations/contras/) meeting in Riverside County.[^1]
