[Pesach Ben-Or](/people/pesach-ben-or/) was a representative for Eagle, an [Israeli](/places/israel/) arms-dealing company. He was involved in helping the military regime in [Guatemala](/places/guatemala/) set up a computer tracking system to fight the leftist insurgency. His operations in [Guatemala](/places/guatemala/) were overseen by [Ariel Sharon](/people/ariel-sharon/) and his associate Mike Harari in [Panama](/places/panama/).[^1]

In 1984, [Israeli](/places/israel/) intelligence, with the backing of the [Americans](/places/united-states/), agreed to continue selling weapons to the [Guatemalan](/places/guatemala/) government through the [Eagle](/organizations/eagle/) company. This was part of a deal that allowed [Guatemala](/places/guatemala/) to be used for storing weapons en route to [Iran](/places/iran/) and for planes carrying arms from [Poland](/places/poland/) to the [Sandinista](/organizations/sandinistas/) government in [Nicaragua](/places/nicaragua/) to fly over [Guatemala](/places/guatemala/).[^1]
