Naina Bajekal is a journalist and the managing director for communications of Coefficient Giving, the name taken in November 2025 by [Open Philanthropy](/organizations/open-philanthropy/), the grantmaker of [Dustin Moskovitz](/people/dustin-moskovitz/) and [Cari Tuna](/people/cari-tuna/). She joined in July 2024.[^1]

### Journalism

Bajekal holds a B.A. in English literature and modern languages from the University of Oxford. She began as a reporter in the [London](/places/london/) bureau of *[Time](/organizations/time/)*, held editing roles at *[Newsweek](/organizations/newsweek/)*, Magnum Photos and the Fuller Project, and returned to *Time* in 2018, where over six years she was international editor and executive editor, edited more than 30 cover stories and launched Women of the Year and the TIME100 AI list.[^1]

### Coefficient Giving

In December 2025 *[Semafor](/organizations/semafor/)* reported that *Time* had hosted four fellows of the [Tarbell Center for AI Journalism](/organizations/tarbell-center-for-ai-journalism/), most of whose funding came from Coefficient Giving. Bajekal said Coefficient had "no involvement in coverage decisions" and that AI held "enormous potential to accelerate science and fuel economic growth."[^2]
