[Kenneth A. Burns & Roe, Inc. was a family corporation owned by Kenneth Roe and his family.[^1]

Under Roe's leadership, Burns & Roe, Inc. was involved in major projects, including the engineering design and construction of the U.S.A. Fast Breeder Nuclear Reactor Plant in conjunction with [Westinghouse Electric Corporation](/organizations/westinghouse-electric-corporation/), which was responsible for the nuclear system supply of steam. At the time, the construction value of Burns & Roe, Inc.'s business backlog exceeded six billion U.S. dollars.[^1]
