[Kami Feld](/people/kami-feld/) is an officer with the Iowa State University Police Department (ISUPD) whose independent investigative work in 2020-2021 identified [Clint Borge](/people/clint-borge/), the previously unknown fourth core leader of [CVLT](/organizations/cvlt/), completing the information picture that Homeland Security Investigations needed to seek a federal indictment against all four defendants.

### Iowa State Investigation

In November 2020, an Iowa State University freshman approached ISUPD to report that she was being blackmailed with sexual images taken of her when she was 16. A patrol officer initially interviewed the victim, and Officer Kami Feld took up the investigative work.

Feld issued subpoenas to electronic service providers including Google, PayPal, Venmo, Instagram, and Facebook. The subpoena responses returned IP activity across four different locations, including Hawaii, Oregon, and [California](/places/california/). Feld also issued a search warrant.[^1]

At this point, Homeland Security Investigations Los Angeles was already investigating CVLT and had identified three of the four core leaders. The fourth was known only by the Discord alias "Whoops." Feld's subpoena results, combined with a digital wallet account associated with the target's IP activity, returned an address: 4 Goldfield Road, Honolulu, Hawaii. Feld ran a verification search and found the address linked to several questionable businesses with no verifiable physical location. Further investigation traced the activity not to Honolulu but to Pahoa, Hawaii on the Big Island, establishing the real-world identity as Clint Jordan Lopaka Nahooikaika Borge.[^1]

Feld's investigation connected to the existing HSI case. Once HSI confirmed the Borge identification, investigators proceeded to the January 17, 2025 grand jury indictment. Borge, [Collin Walker](/people/collin-walker/), [Kaleb Merritt](/people/kaleb-merritt/), and [Rohan Rane](/people/rohan-rane/) were indicted in [United States v. Rane et al., 2:25-cr-00040](/events/united-states-v-rane-et-al-2-25-cr-00040/), Central District of California.[^2]

### Recognition

Iowa State University and ISUPD credited the original student complainant and Feld's investigative work publicly in February 2025, when the indictment was unsealed. Multiple news accounts identified the Iowa State case as the investigative link that broke open the fourth identification and allowed the federal prosecution to proceed against the full leadership of the enterprise.[^1]
