[Johnny Rosselli](/people/johnny-rosselli/) was an organized-crime leader who was contacted by [Robert Maheu](/people/robert-maheu/) in 1960 as part of [CIA](/organizations/central-intelligence-agency/) operations to assassinate [Fidel Castro](/people/fidel-castro/). Rosselli, along with [Sam Giancana](/people/sam-giancana/) and [Santos Trafficante, Jr.](/people/santos-trafficante-jr/), was enlisted to assist in these efforts, which involved Cuban exiles.[^1]
