[John Carrette](/people/john-carrette/) was a Full Gospel businessman and a former [U.S. Army](/organizations/us-army/) Ranger in [Vietnam](/places/vietnam/). He aided and supported [General Rios Montt](/people/general-rios-montt/), who became president of [Guatemala](/places/guatemala/) in an army coup in March 1982. According to Carrette, the then-presidents of [Guatemala](/places/guatemala/), [El Salvador](/places/el-salvador/), and [Honduras](/places/honduras/) were all Full Gospel.[^1]

Carrette later became the Executive Vice President of FGBMFI ([Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International](/organizations/full-gospel-business-mens-fellowship-international/)) and helped set up [Jimmy Hughes](/people/jimmy-hughes/) in [Honduras](/places/honduras/). Hughes stated that Carrette "god-fathered" him into the Fellowship and that he had been in the Fellowship ever since.[^1]
