Glenn Dubin

Glenn Dubin is a New York hedge fund manager who founded Highbridge Capital Management with Henry Swieca in 1992 and led it until 2013. Jeffrey Epstein was a founding investor in the fund and advised Dubin and Swieca in their 2004 negotiations over the sale of a majority stake to JPMorgan Chase. Dubin's wife, Eva Andersson-Dubin, had a romantic relationship with Epstein before her marriage, and she has called Epstein the "godfather of my three children." Virginia Giuffre named Dubin in a 2016 deposition among the men to whom, she said, Ghislaine Maxwell and Epstein directed her; the Dubins have denied the allegation, and no charge has been brought.¹²³⁴

Highbridge

Dubin and Swieca grew up in Washington Heights and launched Highbridge in September 1992; by June 2004 it managed about 6 billion dollars.¹ A JPMorgan memorandum of March 18, 2004 to Jamie Dimon, William B. Harrison Jr. and David Coulter stated that "Highbridge has approached JB, JPMC based on an existing relationship with the founders/owners, and with Jeffrey Epstein [a founding investor in Highbridge]." A June 16, 2004 email to Jes Staley read: "One concern that we have is that Jeffrey has been educating Glenn & Henry about our structure and valuation thoughts." JPMorgan bought a majority stake in 2004, and Dubin ran the fund until 2013.²⁴⁵

On January 28, 2014 Dubin's office sent Epstein's assistant Lesley Groff an "Updated Contact Information for Glenn Dubin" notice giving his new office as Dubin & Company, 767 Fifth Avenue, 45th Floor.⁶

The Epstein Household

Epstein's Palm Beach house manager, Juan Alessi, told the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 2019 that when he began working for Epstein around 1990 Epstein had a girlfriend "named Eva Anderson."⁷ Andersson-Dubin's romantic history with Epstein dated to the early 1980s. Flight logs show that the Dubins flew on Epstein's aircraft at least eighteen times between 1996 and 2005.⁴

In her April 22, 2016 deposition in Giuffre v. Maxwell, Maxwell was asked, "Do you know Glenn Dubin?" and answered, "I do." Asked how she knew him, she said, "He is the husband of Eva Dubin," and agreed that Eva Dubin was one of her friends. Asked, "Did you ever bring any females to the Dubin's house that were not your friends' children that were under the age of 18?" she answered, "I have never, to my knowledge, brought anybody under the age of 18 that's not a friend of my family or my nieces or nephews to the Dubin household."³

The Dubins' former household manager, Rinaldo Rizzo, testified that in 2005 Maxwell and Epstein brought a 15-year-old girl to the Dubins' house, and that the girl told Rizzo and his wife that she had been taken to Epstein's island and threatened. Rizzo testified that he later saw the girl "on a flight to Sweden with the Dubin family."⁸

The Giuffre Allegation

Giuffre's 2016 deposition, unsealed in August 2019, "listed Dubin among several businessmen and politicians who she alleges Maxwell and Epstein directed her to have sex with." The Harvard Crimson noted that "the available court record contains no direct evidence substantiating the allegations against Dubin." A spokesperson answered: "Glenn and Eva Dubin are outraged by the allegations against them in the unsealed court records and categorically reject them."⁸

Maxwell denied the allegation as to herself in her own deposition. Asked, "Did you ever send Virginia to Glenn's condo at the Breakers to give him a massage?" she answered, "No," and asked whether she had instructed Giuffre to have sex with him, "I have never instructed Virginia to have sex with anybody ever." Asked whether it was "an obvious lie that Virginia was paid to go to give a massage to Glenn Dubin at the Breakers," she said, "I cannot testify to what Virginia did outside of . . . I can't testify to what she did, who she gave massages to," and "Of course I don't know." Asked, "Can Jeffrey Epstein confirm or deny whether you sent Virginia to give Glenn Dubin a massage?" she answered, "I can't say what Jeffrey would say, I can tell you I didn't." Asked whether Epstein had "ever sent anybody to Glenn Dubin to perform a massage for him," she said, "I couldn't possibly recollect whether he did anything like that," and asked whether she had sent anyone else "over to Glenn Dubin's home for a massage," she answered, "Not to the best of my knowledge." The transcript was filed in the unsealed record on May 3, 2022.³

The Virgin Islands Subpoenas

On September 3, 2020 the Virgin Islands attorney general, Denise George, suing Epstein's estate on behalf of the Government of the United States Virgin Islands, subpoenaed Dubin, Andersson-Dubin and Highbridge for records of "financial transactions and communications between the Dubins and Epstein" from 1998 to the present, including three wire transfers between 2014 and 2016. A spokesperson said the Dubins "are horrified by and were completely unaware of Jeffrey Epstein's unspeakable conduct."⁴

Harvard Kennedy School

In 2010 Dubin gave 5 million dollars to establish the Dubin Graduate Fellowships for Emerging Leaders at the Center for Public Leadership of the Harvard Kennedy School, and he sat on the school's Dean's Executive Committee. In August 2019 a Kennedy School spokesperson declined to comment on his role at the school.⁸
