[David Mayer](/people/david-mayer/) was an attorney from Marin County, [California](/places/california/). He represented [Calvin Robinson](/people/calvin-robinson/), who was dubbed the "drug tug" captain by local media. Mayer obtained the assistance of attorney [David Mayer](/people/david-mayer/) to represent him at his 1989 trial. However, on February 6, 1989, the night before Mayer was to appear in court to defend Robinson, he died from a gun-shot wound. His death was ruled a suicide, and a suicide tape was found.[^1]
