Conor Climo was a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada who communicated with members of [Feuerkrieg Division](/organizations/feuerkrieg-division/) beginning in late 2017 and developed plans to conduct arson and explosive attacks against Jewish and LGBTQ targets in the Las Vegas area. He was arrested on 8 August 2019 by the FBI's Las Vegas Joint Terrorism Task Force and pleaded guilty in February 2020 to federal charges in the District of Nevada. He was sentenced to two years in federal prison on 13 November 2020 by U.S. District Judge James Mahan.[^1]

### Background and FKD Contact

Climo first made contact with FKD members through encrypted internet communications in late 2017, predating the formal founding of the organization in October 2018 and suggesting early involvement with the proto-FKD online milieu. The FBI began investigating him in April 2019 after receiving intelligence about his encrypted chats with FKD members. The investigation used undercover agents posing as fellow extremists and at least one confidential informant to document Climo's operational planning.[^2]

Climo's target list was specific and geographic. He spoke of wanting to firebomb a Las Vegas synagogue, described a scenario in which others would shoot people exiting the building as he lit the incendiary device, and compiled a journal with sketches depicting gunmen attacking an LGBTQ bar. The target list also included a fast food restaurant and a Las Vegas office of the Anti-Defamation League. In October 2017, before formal FKD communications, Climo had already attempted to recruit a homeless person to conduct surveillance on a synagogue.[^2]

### FBI Operation and Arrest

On 8 August 2019, FBI agents searched Climo's Las Vegas home and found bomb components and two rifles, consistent with the planning documented in his communications. He was charged with one count of possession of an unregistered firearm, specifically characterized as the component parts of a destructive device under federal explosives law. The framing of the charge around firearm possession rather than terrorism-specific statutes was consistent with the Department of Justice's prosecution strategy for FKD-adjacent cases in that period: the same approach was used in the contemporaneous [Jarrett William Smith](/people/jarrett-william-smith/) prosecution in Kansas.[^1]

U.S. Attorney Nicholas A. Trutanich for the District of Nevada described the investigation in a press release as protecting Las Vegas's faith-based and LGBTQ communities from hate-motivated violence.

### Guilty Plea and Sentence

Climo pleaded guilty in February 2020. His sentencing on 13 November 2020 drew attention because prosecutors had recommended 30 months, consistent with the Smith case, but Judge Mahan sentenced Climo to 24 months. He also received six months of home confinement with electronic monitoring to follow his release. Climo apologized at sentencing. No terrorism enhancement was applied.[^1]

The case was one of two documented US prosecutions arising from FKD membership in 2019, alongside Smith's. The absence of a terrorism enhancement in both cases distinguished them from later prosecutions of [AWD](/organizations/atomwaffen-division/) and [764](/organizations/764-network/) members, where enhanced charges (including the first-ever material-support terrorism count against a 764 member in 2025) became the prosecutorial standard.
