Charles Griffith, then 39, of 217 North Providence Street, Wallingford, in Delaware County, was arrested by the United States Secret Service on December 10, 1974, together with [R.C. Horsch](/people/rc-horsch/), then known as Raymond Hoersch, on charges of counterfeiting ten-dollar bills.[^1][^2]

### The Doylestown Press

Hatboro police detained Horsch after the Hatboro Card Shop on Old York Road in Hatboro reported that he had passed a suspicious ten-dollar bill. Secret Service agent James D'Amelio said the investigation led to a small building on Taylor Street in Doylestown, where agents found the equipment used to print the bills and arrested Griffith. The agents said they had caught the operation at an early stage, with few of the bills in circulation, and seized 180,000 dollars in counterfeit notes. The press was also turning out counterfeit operator's cards and vehicle registration certificates, and Horsch's own driver's license and registration were found to be counterfeit. Both men failed to raise bail and were committed to the Philadelphia Detention Center, and the authorities said more arrests were expected.[^1][^2] Horsch served two years.[^3]
