In February 1987, a contribution from the [CIA](/organizations/central-intelligence-agency/) was made to the West Australian Labor Party, involving [Richard Babayan](/people/richard-babayan/) and [Earl Brian](/people/earl-brian/) acting on behalf of [Hadron](/organizations/hadron/). This money was passed on by one of [Maxwell's](/people/robert-maxwell/) companies in [Australia](/places/australia/) to be held by the [Pergamon Press Trust Fund](/organizations/pergamon-press-trust-fund/).[^1]
