The Organization of African States (OAS) is a continental organization consisting of the countries of Africa. In April 1976, the OAS denounced the visit of South African Prime Minister [John Vorster](/people/john-vorster/) to [Israel](/places/israel/), along with the [Arab League](/organizations/arab-league/), the [Soviet Union](/places/soviet-union/), and the [Netherlands](/places/netherlands/).[^1]
