The [John Curtin Foundation](/organizations/john-curtin-foundation/) was an organization in [Australia](/places/australia/) whose funds were guarded by [Alan Bond](/people/alan-bond/). In February 1987, a contribution from the [CIA](/organizations/central-intelligence-agency/) was made to the West Australian Labor Party, involving [Richard Babayan](/people/richard-babayan/) and [Earl Brian](/people/earl-brian/) acting on behalf of [Hadron](/organizations/hadron/). This money was passed on by one of [Maxwell's](/people/robert-maxwell/) companies in [Australia](/places/australia/) to be held by the [Pergamon Press Trust Fund](/organizations/pergamon-press-trust-fund/) in [Moscow](/places/moscow/), with [Alan Bond](/people/alan-bond/) receiving the check in his role as the guardian of the [John Curtin Foundation](/organizations/john-curtin-foundation/) funds.[^1]
