Its registered office is on the third floor of 45 Albemarle Street in Mayfair, London, and it lists its business as research in the social sciences and humanities, foreign affairs and education.[^1] ### Directors On May 18, 2010, the directors appointed at incorporation left the board and Lord Weidenfeld, Stuart Fiertz and Michael Lewis joined it. Weidenfeld remained a director until January 20, 2016, and Fiertz, an American and Swiss national, was still one in 2026. Sir Michael Davis joined in January 2024, Lord Sarfraz in June 2024, and Baroness Joanna Shields on September 8, 2025.[^1] ### Monitoring of Extremist Networks In its "Digital Dispatch" reports the institute described the [Terrorgram Collective](/organizations/terrorgram-collective/) as "effectively defunct" as an organized structure by late 2024, after the arrests of [Dallas Humber](/people/dallas-humber/), Matthew Robert Allison and Matthew Althorpe.[^2] After the arrest of Telegram's founder Pavel Durov and the unsealing of the Terrorgram indictment in 2024 it followed neo-Nazi accelerationist groups to a new encrypted platform, which it declined to name, and recorded that within a single day, September 25, 2024, users in the channels it watched posted three calls for the assassination of Vice President Kamala Harris and one for that of [Donald Trump](/people/donald-trump/).[^3] Its study of "nihilistic violence," violence driven by a misanthropic outlook rather than a political program, traced the path of [Natalie Rupnow](/people/natalie-rupnow/), who opened fire at [Abundant Life Christian School](/events/2024-abundant-life-christian-school-shooting/) in Madison, Wisconsin, on December 16, 2024, from the gore site [WatchPeopleDie](/organizations/watchpeopledie/) through [764](/organizations/764-network/)-affiliated and Terrorgram-adjacent material, and linked such subcultures, [No Lives Matter](/organizations/no-lives-matter/) among them, to at least four school shooters and five disrupted plots.[^4] Its researcher Steven Rai said the bot-amplified promotion of [The Base](/organizations/the-base/) on VKontakte raised questions about Russian state support for the group, whose founder [Rinaldo Nazzaro](/people/rinaldo-nazzaro/) lives in Russia.[^5] [^1]: Companies House, Institute for Strategic Dialogue, company number 06581421, company profile and officers list, accessed September 22, 2026. https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/06581421 [^2]: ISD Global.
