The [Golani infantry brigade](/organizations/golani-infantry-brigade/) is an elite infantry brigade of the [Israeli Defense Forces](/places/israel/). [Uri Simchoni](/people/uri-simchoni/), a member of the [Iran-Israel Joint Committee](/organizations/iran-israel-joint-committee/), was formerly the chief of this brigade.[^1]

[Ari Ben-Menashe](/people/ari-ben-menashe/)'s basic training in the military was in a special infantry unit known as Golani, where he undertook a special high-explosives sabotage course.[^1]
