It was informed by the [Australian Security Intelligence Organization](/organizations/australian-security-intelligence-organization/) (ASIO) about [Oscar Guerrero's](/people/oscar-guerrero/) attempt to sell photographs of [Israel's](/places/israel/) nuclear facility, provided by [Mordecai Vanunu](/people/mordecai-vanunu/). [ASIS](/organizations/australian-security-intelligence-service/) then informed [Israel](/places/israel/).[^1]

[ASIS](/organizations/australian-security-intelligence-service/) was aware of and gave permission for aircraft loaded with arms to land in Western [Australia](/places/australia/), en route to [Tehran](/places/tehran/), as part of a smokescreen operation by the [Iran-Israel Joint Committee](/organizations/iran-israel-joint-committee/).[^1]
