Peter W. Rodman was a longtime assistant to [[Henry A. Kissinger]]. He was present during a meeting between Kissinger and [[Simcha Dinitz]], the Israeli ambassador, during the 1973 [[Yom Kippur War]], where Dinitz emphasized the desperate situation of the Israeli military and the need for more tanks and aircraft.
