[[Muammar Qaddafi]] was the leader of [[Libya]]. He played a role in [[Africa|African]] politics, promising money to black [[Africa|African]] nations if they cut ties with [[Israel]]. This led to a deterioration of relations between [[Israel]] and [[Uganda]] under [[Idi Amin]].[^1] [[Muammar Qaddafi|Col. Qaddafi's]] right-hand man, [[Abdul Salam Jalloud|Maj. Abdul Salam Jalloud]], visited [[Iran]] to congratulate the new regime after the [[Iranian Revolution]]. During his visit, [[Iran|Iranian]] hosts questioned him about the disappearance of [[Sheikh Mussa Sadr]], a Shi'ite leader from southern [[Lebanon]], who was believed to have been killed by the [[Libya|Libyans]]. [[Abdul Salam Jalloud|Jalloud]] was detained for three weeks until [[Muammar Qaddafi|Qaddafi]] personally intervened and spoke to [[Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini|Khomeini]].[^1] ### Footnotes [^1]: Ben-Menashe, Ari. *Profits of War: Inside the Secret U.S.-Israeli Arms Network*.
