Karl Hobi was a Swiss pedophile and founding member of the [[Swiss Paedophile Association]] alongside [[Beat Meier]]. Hobi became a central figure in Scotland Yard's investigation into snuff films after an associate named Jean Michel Klopp, a convicted pedophile imprisoned in Luxembourg, provided information to Interpol about British children killed in snuff films. Klopp told investigators that [[Beat Meier|Meier]] had been involved in the rape and murder of a four-year-old English girl, and that Karl Hobi had shown him a snuff film featuring a British boy in 1989.[^1] In a Scotland Yard interrogation, Klopp described the film Hobi had shown him approximately five years earlier. Klopp stated that Hobi had shown him a video cassette in confidence in which a boy was tortured, mutilated, and probably died afterwards from what was done to him. When asked what Hobi said before showing the film, Klopp testified that Hobi told him it was a new kind of film for a new clientele and this type of film could make a lot more money because of what was in it. Klopp said Hobi told him the boy in the film was someone the men did not know, that he had been picked up in the street. When Klopp asked Hobi questions about where the film was made and about the child and the adults, Hobi told him he only knew that [[Beat Meier|Meier]] had organised it.[^1] Both Karl Hobi and [[Beat Meier]], who were in prison at the time of the investigation, refused to be interviewed regarding the allegations. Hobi's testimony about the commercial viability of snuff films pointed to an emerging market for extreme child exploitation material within the networks connected to the [[Swiss Paedophile Association]].[^1] ### Footnotes [^1]: Dovey, S.
